Here's another tip that I have found the harsh way: always buy the highest quality that you can afford, at least for the basics.
Cheap clothes won't last and look... cheap. When buying things on sale, it's usually much better to go to high end stores that carry high quality clothing (that would be otherwise unaffordable) and purchase clothes on sales there, instead of going to cheaper stores where one can be retail and purchase more sale items. That way, there is an increase in the quality in one's clothing. Sheer quantity isn't what is best.
Oh, and here's another one: don't buy things too small thinking you'll lose 10 pounds. See about losing the weight first.
Such a good point Eloise! That's a really bad trap to fall into - not only will it be a loss of money spent on something you may not be able to fit into, but also makes you feel really stink if it doesn't work out.
Thanks! In my case, it's often the opposite that happens: I find something great, but it's a size too big. "No matter", I say, "I'll eventually gain some weight!" Big mistake. Now I have a pair of grey jbrand skinny jeans that I will probably never wear before they go out of style. Anybody wants it? lol.
