Skylar Magazine is in search of fresh new faces! Whether you are someone who has always dreamed of becoming a model, or you never even thought about it until recently this contest is for you!
Skylar is a fashion magazine that features up and coming models, talent and fashion designers who are trying to gain exposure. Our goal is to help these individual's by recognizing their true beauty, talent, creativity, passion and their drive.
Models for Skylar are one of the most important part of our publication. They are the one's who make the magazine look beautiful and appealing to our readers. In the past our models have been featured in articles for Endometriosis, Adult Acne, Dandruff, cold sores, rare diseases, and also for our beauty and fashion columns. They also get to grace our cover and be featured in ads as well. It truly is an excellent opportunity if you are looking for exposure.
So, if you think you have what it takes, and this sounds like a great opportunity for you, please read the following information to find out how you can sign up for Skylar Model Search 2006!
How to Sign Up:
Sign up is $10.00 to participate. The money we raise from the model search will go toward supplies we use to put the magazine together, including: Ink, Paper, glue, and also other expenses like fashion, accessories, and makeup for our models. We are also going to be doing some fashion challenges throughout the competition and we will be providing the clothing, accessories or whatever else we need you to model in, and you get to keep everything. There is no travel involved. You will be doing everything from home and all pictures submitted for the search will come to me through email. So, you don't have to worry about flying, jet lagg, and anyone from anywhere can sign up and participate. Here is how to sign up for the model search:
Submit 2 photo's, 1 head shot, and 1 full body shot. (if you only have 1 picture that's fine, or you may send links to where we can view your photos)
Fill out the application (will be emailed to you once we recieve your photos)
Sign and date the participation form (anyone under 18, will need to have a parent or guardian sign and date the parental consent form)
You can either mail in your application, forms, and $10.00 participation donation, or you may fax forms, and pay through Pay Pal.
There is no deadline at this time. However, the sooner you sign up the sooner we can start the competition. Once we recieve atleast 20 girls we will make our deadline. So, if you are going to sign up please do so as soon as you can!

The top 5 will also be featured in the magazine.
We will be selecting winners from each challenge, and we will also be eliminating participants from each challenge as well.
Participants will be given deadline's for each challenge and will be required to meet them. If deadlines are not met, you will be disqualified.
There will be no re-funds to anyone who is eliminated, disqualified, or to anyone who drops out of the contest.
We do have some rule's for the contest:
You must be 14-30 in order to participate.
Anyone under 18 will have to have Parental Consent.
All applications, forms, and participation donations must be sent in.
All applications must be completely filled out, and forms must be signed and dated.
This contest is for females only.
Deadlines must be met, or you will be disqualified.
Anyone who does not complete a challenge will be disqualified.
If you get an attitude with anyone on Skylar or any of the judges you will be disqualified.
If you do not like a challenge please do not complain, complaints about challenges will not be tolerated. You may not always like or agree with a challenge, but this is a contest.
Details of future challenges will not be revealed until the challenge's begin. Please don't ask for details.
The results of all challenges will not be announced until the challenge is complete. Please don't ask how you did on your photos, I won't be able to tell you:)
No porn related photo's please! Artistic nudes are fine.
Regardless of our rule's, this contest is a lot of fun, and it will be worth it in the end.
What we are looking for:
Girls who have that "Wow" Factor. This is a girl who stands out, and just has "it"!
Potential- We are looking for someone we feel has the potential to be a great model, and has what it take's.
Girls who are photogenic, that is definitely a plus.
Creativity- Someone who will take risks, and who can use their imaginations when it comes to posing, putting on makeup and styling their hair, as well as putting together outfits for a photo.
Clear complections- Models should have good skin. It doesn't have to be perfect, because we all get pimples every now and then, but a clear complection is definitely a plus.
Clean healthy smiles
Good Attitudes- People who take direction well, and don't complain about everything. People who do not wine and get angry, because they don't agree with what we do. We are unable to provide photographers, hair stylists and makeup artists, so you will have to use your own. We are looking for an individual who can accept that without getting upset about it.
Personality and Confidence- This is a definite plus. Nothing is more attractive then a girl with a great personality and a lot of confidence.
Individuality- You don't necessarily have to be beautiful, or have a pretty face in order to be a model. Everyone has something unique about them, and our goal is to find models that stand out from everyone else. You could be the most beautiful girl in the world, or you could be really awkward with large lips, or a crooked nose, and not have what we're looking for. Or you could be the most beautiful girl in the world, or you could be very awkward and be exactly what we're looking for. So, you just never know. We are looking for someone who is proud of their flaws, and for those who have no flaws (if there is such a person, you have been blessed) you should also have no flaws on the inside. We are looking for an individual.
There is no height or weight required for modeling for Skylar. Anyone from anywhere can compete in the model search, US, Canada and other countries will be accepted.

"I myself was involved in the 2005 skylar model contest. I made it as far as to the top 5 with having about 20 girls participating. This was a great experience for me. I myself never felt that i was beautiful or had the right look but doing this contest helped me to build my self esteem and see that maybe i just could make it. since then i have worked with 2 photographers and have gotten my portfolio underway with a small stint at a car show
being one of the models. i honestly believe this contest is worth going for. It helps you raise your self-esteem.
