Tailors in Melb and surrounding areas

Posted: 04.06.2008 at 20.43
As touched upon in the Jack London post, Im looking for decent tailors in Melbourne and/or surrounding suburbs.
They basically fall into 2 categories:
1.Somewhere I can get a bespoke suit or pants done. Preferably in a Mod style and someone that knows how to do pockets (I actually want to use the pockets)
2.Somewhere cheap and reliable to get things taken in, get buttons and hems done.

Unfortunately I fall between 2 sizes in most clothes and it would be much easier to have things made or taken in.
Thanks for any help.

Can't help you with 1 (I used to know of a good Jewish tailor but have since lost his details), but with 2 look up Uno's Mode in Flinders Lane. I'm not sure what her public rates are, but her alteration work is top-notch.

Perhaps a touchy subject, but what about people who can work with fur? Any suggestions.
I've got hunters in the family and may be getting some fox and rabbit. Depending on the size of the pelt(s) I wanted to have the fox put into a jacket's collar.
