Tanned or natural skin? What

The debate of tanning has arisen again recently when Beauty Queen, Brittany Leitz, approached the media to warn people about skin cancer after developing a melanoma. Tanning salons are still huge, and so is the tanned look. But there are some moving away from the Tan in favour of more natural looking skin.

Here we can see different celebrities skin tones. Jessica Simpson normally prefers to keep it tanned, so does Posh spice, while the likes of Nicole Kidman, Dita Von Teese and Scarlett Johansson prefer to keep their skin natural and pale.

What do you prefer?

Hmmm...its not a simple decision for me. I like both, and having pale skin which burns easily I prefer natural for myself. In saying that, tanned gives a better look on legs and hides allot of flaws.

i was gonna say scarlett has a bit of a tan there too. I think it depends, tan does hid flaws well (and i am blessed with a olive complexion) but if you get a lot of tans you will get wrinkles earlier. DIta Von Teese has her whole image being this beauty with blackhair, pale skin and these lovely red lips so onher, a tan would probably throw her image. The old european image of beauty was pale skin, a straight nose and red lips, which is the image that Dita, as well as nicole kidman and some others go for, its far more classic and timeless. And lets face it, a tan can look great but it can also look trashy. I guess its just the look you wanna go for...

I think a tan can look good as long as it is not over done. Too much and it shows later in life as it can add years to someone. As with most things i guess, moderation is the key word...

I prefer pale skin to myself, but agree that a bit of a tan can look good in many people (has to be done carefully).

I'm definitely a fan of the tan - Dita's pale look doesn't do anything for me at all.

Has anyone seen Pirates of the Caribbean 3? Keira's tan is amazing!

I think jessica's tan would look good if she had the blonde back.

it's all about your natural complexion too.
dita is pale. scarlett less so and jessica naturally has a tan to her (no idea about victoria beckham but it's too much in that shot)

the reason a little tan looks healthy is because it is.

in the northern parts of the world where they have entire winters in darkness they tan under special lights both for the nutrients it provides the skin and to prevent depression (makes sense when you compare someone from the caribbean islands to someone from the heart of london)
