I am currently in VCE and i want to get into a design course somewhere. The problem is there are so many courses to choose from. I am currently aiming for a course in swinburn where i require a 82.5ish entre score. maybe tafe it up for a year first and work on the folio if i dont make the cut?

If there are anyone currently doing similar courses please fill me in on what you think of the different institutions. thankyou!

Hey Johnny,
I do something similar to what you want to do i guess.. Well i touch on what the graphics course offers.
I'm studying Product Design Engineering at Swinburne, and the design faculty is absolutely fantastic. A couple of our lecturers also teach at RMIT in the city, and they say that it's of similar standard, although more lecture like where as we're on the computer as they teach.
If you're applying for Swinny, definately get a portfolio together incase they ask for an interview, a strong port really impresses them.
Also, i think Rmit ask for it as well.

Hope that helped! :-)

I've done Graphic Design (now called Communication Design) at Swinburne before. Definitely get a folio together and prepare for anything. The main schools seem to be Swinburne, RMIT and Monash University. If you do wish to enter a Tafe course first, I'd highly recommend entering a Tafe that's part of the university that you wish to apply for in the future. Ie. If you want to enter Swinburne University, I'd recommend you do Tafe at Swiburne. This is because Swinburne University sometimes takes Swinburne Tafe students to skip a year and can allow them to start at year 2. Otherwise, you get a much higher possibility to enter Swiburne year 1 , sometimes without even having an interview.
