Phone or phones? Well the latter actually. But it seems we might find out details before Christmas, and see them hit the market in 2008.

Google has reportedly indicated it plans to announce its mobile phone on Monday, including its partnerships with manufacturers and wireless providers that will be using its mobile OS. So far, its thought that T-Mobile and Sprint will be carrying Googles mobile service, though there could be others for the US market.

For handset makers, its looking like Taiwans HTC, Samsung, LG and SonyEricsson are probably on board, along with Chinas e28. With rumors of a gphone being shipped out by Christmas, you may be disappointed to learn that any actual devices arent expected until the middle of next year.

This will, apparently, be the offering from HTC;

that looks so much more serious than the skype phone ;)

Given they're making the O/S and not the hardware I expect we'll see a large variety of phones. The above will be the high end, business models. I expect we'll see much lighter options from Sony and LG.

What most interest me is which carriers will have access to them.

HTC specialise in smart phone PDA. great for business use but at a cost. Sony Ericsson are going ot be bringing in a public use version so i hear that will be for general use. Still in its early stages but seems to be creating abit of hype. Everyone got over the IPhone fair quick and this is the next buzz hit to hit the technology shores.
