The Veronicas make a cliche range for Target

Its not uncommon for singers to become actors, or models to become singers, well now pop duo the Veronicas have gone from singers to designers.

They launched their new range, creatively entitled "The Veronicas for Target" yesterday.

Described as Punk Princess, the range includes clothing for younger girls and teens. The whole empire seems to be slightly reminiscent of the Olsen Twins.

This year we've seen Target Australia go from reputable international names Stella McCartney and Josh Goot, to celebrity endorsement by less-than-memorable pop twins The Veronicas. Aside from the obvious drop in quality, which admittedly is largely due to them targeting a different, younger crowd via this capsule, there's also a lack of creativity or fashion-forwardness in the range with last-season's high-waisted skirts and emo-esque vests making up the staple of the collection.

You can see more information on the Veronicas for Target website.

What do you think of the partnership? An obvious marketing ploy?

No doubt a change in marketing. They've been re-inventing Target for the past year or two. Whether or not it's working I'm not sure as I haven't been paying attention. Hardly innovative but then again, clothes for chains tend not to be earth shatteringly innovative. That monologue by Glenn Close in The Devil wears Prada was great when explaining fashion.

I wouldn't say the Veronicas are punk...they're about as punk as Avril ;)

Who in God's name is going to actually buy from the range? Are they aiming for the under 15 market? And if so, are the 'clothes' designed accordingly?

They are grotty! and so so nasty... I met them when i used to live in brissy and all i can say is snobby bogans! they think they are it! when every just thinks they are poo.

I tell you though... these clothes will go down so well. If this "fake emo" craze has taught me anything is that these kids don't even know what emo is anymore. if you wear eyeliner your emo, wear black and people will think u slit your wrists once. The funniest thing is that rather than being individuals as the original emo's... which weren't ruled by the colours black, red and white, Huge companies have taken advantage of these dumb kids and made completely black and red ranges to suck them into buying there clothes. Hahaha from individuals to products! Isn't it great. They have lost their identity and forgotten their culture.

Emo used to be able wearing vintage, having bed hair, being a bit of a nerd who read Marx and Engels "The communist manifesto" or other such deep reads and made mixed tapes. Instead the "fake emo" embodies all the ideas of what they don't want to be - consumers taken advantage of...

Haha i love it. i smile whenever i see these freaks!
