Have any fashionisers invested in the ethical consumer trend yet? I.e. recycled or fair trade clothing?
And what do we all think of?
Personally I think we're going to see a large push towards it as Internet discussion of fashion makes us more aware of actual conditions, but more importantly actually makes it seem cool. For instance, the sell out Anya Hindmarch "I'm not a plastic bag" was definitely a move towards 'cool ethics'.
they're getting ready to carry that at Whole Foods here in nyc...I'm thinking of snatching one up.
American Apparel is a fair trade company and i am pretty much addicted to them.
I don't purposesly seek out to be an ethical consumer, but I do like it if what I happen to like is eco/people friendly.
The easiest thing everyone can do to have the greatest impact is to go to Farmers Markets if you have one in your community. Everything grown and sold locally tastes the best and saves the most.
Anya's bags were made in un-ethical ways... and the backlash has already started - bags with 'I'm not a pretentious twat' have been spotted in and around London. :D
My boyfriend is a vegetarian and he intends to buy veggie "leather" shoes. Does anybody know how they compare to real leather and which online stores carry the best? Thanks!
