I haven't bought it (yet), but wow, what a car!!

The photos certainly don't do it justice. It's one of the most amazing cars I've sat in (except perhaps for an Aston Martin). The interior is brilliantly thought out, right down to the heated seats. And in terms of response... it just goes. The slightest touch on the pedal and you're where you want to be.

Now I have to work out whether to get a convertible or the coupe!! Both have their advantages.

ooh, very nice! I like the TT - it's sporty but cute all at the same time.
Covertible would be great - I think you have to own a convertible at least once in your lifetime, right? ;)

Yeah, you get a Loooot of attention in a convertable, one of my friends has a porche convertable and its almost embarrasing when you stop at the lights, so many people look! I think go the convertable because its fun...

We just sold our Silver TT Roadster (as you know from YGG posts) and I got to drive it a lot while we had it in stock. They are quite a machine! What model did you test drive? We had the 225HP 6spd (top of the line). It was amazing the kind of power you felt out of a 4 cyl. motor! My daily driver is a Cadillac STS with the Northstar V8 and I was even blown away by the power in that little car!!!

What's the price? And most of all, WHY HAVEN'T YOU BOUGHT IT YET?!

It was the 5 speed - 1.8 litres off the top of my head. And you're right about the oomph it has. From the test drive I really couldn't fault the car. I know when you're trying to do in excess of the 100mph region the handling can be a bit iffy on corners, but when am I ever realistically going to be doing that speed?

The TT is priced at $44k, so around US$33k. The reason for not buying it? I'm waiting for my insurance company to get back to me, and I'm looking at a few other TT's that are on the market for around the same price point.

My daily driver is a Cadillac STS...

Is the STS the Cadillac that is based on a SAAB?

I don't believe my Cadillac is based on a SAAB, no.

A far as that TT, what year is it? The 5spd is the lower 180hp model, so they do have a model up from that that is even MORE peppy (if you can imagine). For US$33,000 that better be a 2005 model! :)

I wish that was a 2005 model! Anything imported from Europe is quite expensive here (in comparison to what you can pick it up for elsewhere). Then these first came out you were probably looking around the US$71k mark.

We just sold our 2001 225HP 6Spd Roadster for US$19,500 and it was in phenomenal shape.

Side Note: if you're serious about purchasing one of these cars, make sure that the instrument cluster has been replaced with the upgraded/fixed version. It costs about US$900 to get this done. What happens is the gas gauge starts reading inaccurately and the temperature gauge starts reading VERY hot (when the car's just fine). It's not a question of IF, but WHEN - it's basically innevitible that it'll go out.

Check out www.audittcc.com (Audi TT Car Club of America) - it's an geared towards American TT's but I think the information is all pretty relevant and there's a wealth of info there.

I'm an Audi lover to the core and my dealership specializes in pre-owned Audi's so if you have any questions I'd be happy to help!
