There tends to be an affliction with certain Audi models equipped with the Quattro system that causes a grinding feeling/noise when the wheels are cranked all the way to one side or another and you give it gas.
From the research I've done it's not a dangerous problem, but it's extremely annoying and embarassing when you have passengers in the car. I've never noticed it on the TT's, but I've noticed it on almost every Audi A6 non-turbo that I've been in (2.8L or 3.0L models). The 2.8's seem to have it more often. It doesn't make sense to me how the engine has any bearing on this, so it could be purely coincidental. Again, I've never noticed it in the TT's.
All I'm saying is that every Audi that I get in I give it a good crank and a little gas to see if it's there - perhaps you should do the same!
Daniel If you'd like I can ask a friend of mine who runs Chrysler Jeep Dealershi[p to see if they get any through, and what kind of price they go for. Since they do alot of corporates they might get a few through.
That would be really cool Allan. I won't be buying till I'm back from the UK, but even if you could find out whether or not they ever get their hands on any it would be greatly appreciated :)
While I'm at it, I was been lucky enough to be driving around in an Audi RS 6 in the past week. Audi only ever made 450 of them, and they feature a 4.2-litre 5-valve V8 twin-turbo engine which more or less means the car can fly. It's 2 tonnes in weight, but can still get to the 60mph/100kmh in 4.7 seconds, and can hit 200km/h in just over 17 seconds.
