What's everyone's thoughts on vanity sizing? Personally I hate it from an online shopping point of view as you can never be sure that when something says it's a small or a medium it's going to fit you.
And today there's news that the European Union plans to scrap women's sizing (8, 10, 12, etc...) as a result of vanity sizing.
The European Committee for Standarisation is working on the new regime. Effectively, it will require fashion designers and retailers to put measurements on the label.
I'm not a fan of the European Union, but as long as the labels continue to state the sizing we're used to as well as including the measurements in centimetres then I applaud the move.
I wish we had a stardartised sizing system here in Canada (and the US) too. The measurement variation is awful. I do not dare to order online as I'm afraid that nothing will fit me. One cannot even trust the sizing chart! Vanity sizing is a pain... Here's another reason for me to move to UK!
Vanity sizing is urgga !! You can't blame the companies though because it keeps it much easier in the production. However the result of it is usually pieces that are unflattering on most people.
It makes me feel bad that I do not meet the standard waist-to-hip ratio suggested by most American retail stores. >< almost abornoaml.
