Mischa Barton pulls a Britney, is placed under involuntary psychiatric hold
Mischa Barton will not attend the premiere of her film Homecoming tonight in New York.
After a call to police last night from her home, shes been placed under an involuntary psychiatric hold (also known as a 5150) by the Los Angeles Police Department and is currently at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, reports Access Hollywood.
Barton was put under Section 5150 of the California Welfare and Institutions Code by police and transported to Cedars-Sinai. This code gives authorities the power to hold a person if he or she is gravely disabled or suffers from a mental disorder.
This was used to hold Britney Spears twice back in 2008. Under state law, the hospital can hold Barton involuntarily for up to 72 hours.
Morgan J. Freeman, the director of Bartons new film, released a statement that those involved with the movie were saddened the actress would not be at the event.
I along with everyone on the Homecoming team are saddened to hear that Mischa Barton will not be able to attend the films premiere tonight in New York, he said in a statement to Access Hollywood on Thursday. Her performance in Homecoming is fantastic, and she will be missed at our premiere.
This was to be her big comeback, of sorts.
Not any more.
What is going on with these hard-partying Hollywood hotties?
