Maybe this will cause some discussion, maybe not but I need to say it. It goes with the territory for someone in the media spotlight that they can expect to be photographed in public. Kate through all her years rarely makes an overt fuss about this and has dealt with it far better than many others. Taking pics of celebs etc out and about is always going to be there and as you know many B-listers and lower, love the attention and engineer encounters for their own ends. As you know also from my previous posts, I am all for freedom in terms of publications however as with all freedom comes some responsibility. There are some areas of personal intrusion that maybe overstep the mark of just being a decent kind and considerate human being. The problem is that while good money will be paid for any shots of some people, some photographers will go to any lengths. It doesn't take a genius however to know what shots just don't seem right and those that do. There is one particular area though that I would just like to mention and that is of people's children. Kate (and others) accepts a great deal but not that. Fine if she is at a public event and there is a conscious decision to let photographers take child shots but having people stake out the school, peer into playgrounds, hustle at pick up time and splash pictures all over the world of children in this context, really upsets, it really does. One can argue that as such pictures are published elsewhere, why not put them up here? Does that make it right though? Heat, Now and all of the rest of such publications seem to fill some sad gap in some people's lives but I would hope that here doesn't turn into such a focus. Even the Sunday Times Style stooped a bit low recently with Kate.
Pictures of someone's fashions, either at an event or just out for a walk are great (if the subject is obviously happy to be photographed), but real intrusive pictures? Trust me, it is very unpleasant to be hounded. I will leave it up to the people posting here to decide if what they are posting leaves a nasty taste in the mouth or not.
I think Kate manages to survive relatively unscathed, in terms of her daughter and private life. I would think it has a lot to do with the fact that she doesn't give a lot away, and just deals with it knowing it comes with the territory.
