I am prescribed Adderall for narcolepsy. It's not a drug that you want to take unless you need it. It's always best to strategize a gradual and healthy weight-loss plan if you hope for long-term results. Remember, if something sounds too good to be true, then it probably is.

everyone else has given great advice, though i tend to stay away from drugs or pills, just not for me.
what i do, and has worked wonders for me because i can gain weight seemingly overnight, is tp start with cardio each workout, always. im pretty faithful to the elliptical machine as its low impact and burns just as many calories as running. i do at least 25 minutes, but try to do 45, 3-5 times a week. then i'll alternate, some days i work on my arms and abs, some days ill work legs and butt. the trick with getting the stomach toned is CARDIO CARDIO CARDIO. you can do a million sit ups, but without cardio you wont see much of a difference at all. i do lots of lunges, squats, bicep and tricep curls, etc. pretty typical.
im also ADDICTED to power yoga. i added that to my cardio routine and i swear i saw a difference after only 5 or 6 sessions.
one other thing ive found is that i eat better and lose weight when i actually dont REALLY diet. when i restrict certain things i crave them more. and i usually end up eating them, and more of it then i normally would.
i love special k red berries, and eat that about twice a day. they say you lose a pants size eating it twice a day after 6 weeks or something like that, but i think i dropped the weight sooner than that. i stick to only wheat bread, yogurt, fruits, and no fast food.
the real trick is, as someone else said, to not weigh yourself. its only discouraging. your weight fluctuates 3-5 pounds all the time, so if you go in there and you weigh 2 pounds more or something than you did yesterday, its not going to help. what REALLY matters is how you feel when you look in the mirror, and how HEALTHY you are. (trust me, i speak from experience. ive dealt with anorexia and constant diets. im 5'9" and 130 pounds and still feel fat at times. but im at a point now where when i work out, and eat healthy, i can finally feel really good about myself.)
GOOD LUCK

Great advice dublinds.
I took up walking recently and do it every night and I started noticing the change within a week or so.

Yes totally in agreeance with you dublinds...Healthy is definitely the way to go...for body & mind!
I too struggled for a while with this whole 'body image' thing...or 'bad body image' as I like to call it...with consistent exercise, eating healthy and recently cutting alcohol & coffee out of my diet (as coffee will negate many nutrients put into the body) I have lost a considerable amount of weight. Oh and the stomach bug I caught over the wknd helped dramatically as well...he he...
Can you define 'power yoga'...it sounds interesting!

power yoga is amazing. its basically a yoga session that focuses more on toning and creating muscle and really stretching, whereas a typical yoga class might deal more with relaxation. its a lot more standing poses...which, man, those are hard, and not as many sitting ones. i take my classes at my ymca. im sure if you look around you can find a class somewhere, or even a dvd or something. i cannot recommend it enough!

I agree with dublinds! Power yoga! Except I do it in a heated room. I used to FF 3 times a week for almost a year or so but I didn't get the results I was looking for. I build muscle really easily so FF was not for me. Now, if I'm good, I do one power yoga class and one swimming session at the local pools and go for walks with my dog when I can for about an hour. It's been really good because now I'm much more proportioned!
I know some people who went on Lipofix? Lipo something. It's a prescription drug (but they don't get it by prescription) that turns you off food. So if you get hungry, you put food near your mouth and it just makes you feel really sick. You have to make yourself eat though otherwise you'll get sick, but it really works. Though, I'm quite sure it's not very healthy. My friend's philosphy is that she'll lose all the weight and then maintain it. Just as a kickstart. Hmmm....

Something interesting....
I stumbled across Fish Oil capsules in my supermarket & have been taking 2 caps 3 times a day...not only is it great for skin, hair & nails but it is brilliant for the respiratory system.
I have found that my daily exercise has increased because I can jog longer & my stitches no longer exist (this is interesting because I have battled with stitches since childhood, I can remember my father giving me tips on how to get rid of them, but nothing ever worked)...
I am now having to tell myself that that is enough exercise.

Try shifting your run/walk to the morning. I've heard that doing it on an empty stomach forces the body to burn stored energy - not energy from the food you've just eaten. Whatever the case, morning runs are great ... you feel awesome afterwards!
As always, eat a low fat, high protein diet. 5 or 6 smaller meals are much better than 2 or 3 really large ones.

I agree that morning walks or jogs are good... only I don't know I could possibly bring myself to get up early enough! :S (i.e 5am)
Soho that's really interesting to know about the fish oil. I've taken them from time to time but never regularly - might try it :)

I recently took up hula-hooping and circus classes because I hate the gym, and boy is it a real workout!
Definitely recommend taking up a hula-hooping class for an awesome cardio and core workout. It's much more fun that staring at a wall while running on a treadmill too ;)
As far as diet goes, I had to drop a few kilos for a movie role last year, and being pretty small already I was having trouble getting my weight to shift at all. I went to see a nutritionist who pretty much put together a diet plan for me based on my current eating habits (so that I wouldnt find the transition too hard or view the diet as a negative thing) so that I could drop the weight fast but continue to be healthy.
