Hula hooping, what a cool idea!

I know what you mean - you get to a kind of stable point where your weight seems to always equalise back to and it seems like no matter what you do you just end up back at that point your body wants you to be at!!
Is it expensive to see a nutritionist and do you have to go continuously, or can you just go once or twice and it's still beneficial?

I didn't think my nutrtionist was that expensive. At $55 a visit it seemed like a decent investment to me. I only had to go a couple of times and that was so we could weigh me and measure everything and see if we needed to adjust the eating plan at all. I imagine if you have serious issues that you would have to go regularly but if it's a basic thing like wanting advice on your diet then you should only have to go a few times.

Hmm thanks for the advice Danica.. that doesn't sound bad at all - I'd like to know what I can do to be healthy as well as maintaining a good weight.

They are certainly the best people to see. A lot of diet books and throw away artcles in magazines dont give you the full story - and often the diet plan they print is based on a National average weight and height (neither of which apply to me). It's why a lot of people find it hard to stick to them because they are often hungry and tired because it hasnt been tailored for their energy requirements and BMI etc.

The best thing to do is cut refined carbohydrates from your diet. Refined carbohydrates are, for example, those found in sugar, white breads, pasta, and cereals. Refined carbohydrates are bad because they have what is called a high glycemic index, meaning that these foods cause a sudden and sharp increase in blood sugar. If this blood sugar is not used by the body, it is stored as fat.

Concentrate on eating Complex carbs foods which are basically those in wholegrain form such as wholegrain breads, oats, muesli and brown rice. Complex carbs are broken down into glucose more slowly than refined carbohydrates and thus provide a gradual steady stream of energy throughout the day.

Vegetables, and fruits also contain carbohydrates, but these carbohydrates are good ones because they have a lower glycemic index.

With my recent loss my appetite has been pretty much at 0 for the last month. I have dropped 6kgs and weigh about 45kgs in total. I have no energy, I get dizzy, I get headaches, and worst of all... I have no ass.

So I find myself in a difficult place. Putting weight ON.

My plan? No, it doesn't involve eating big macs and drinking coke. Once I am back at work full time I will be roller skating to and from work so I can still exercise but hopefully put back on what I have lost in muscle instead of just fat.

A nice roller skate through Hyde Park in the morning is going to be lovely. I am just hoping the weather starts to cool down again but I dont like my chances considering we have only just started to be hit by the hot days.

Yikes - 45 kg... :S Glad you're going about putting weight back on in a healthy way - if you can manage to eat just normal healthy meals you'll probaby find your weight will stabilize. :)
p.s Roller-skating, how cool! When do you think you'll start back at work?

I dont plan to go back until February and my counsellor has agreed that any earlier would just be too soon. Matthews 26th birthday would have been on 2 Feb so I really can't see myself being able to work before then.
