i'm a member at fitness first - and they are taking over sh!tloads of gyms in melbourne making it difficult to find an excuse not to go - with the passport membership you can go to any of them so when i find myself in the city area, theres like 4 in the CBD ...

i also do fitness first bootcamp 3 mornings a week. gets you into a nice early bird routine and you feel awesome for the rest of the day...plenty of likeminded fit people there too ;)

Ok i'll just stop sounding like a fitness first sales rep right about now.

Wow, its great to hear someone talk about fitness first. When I was living in Bologna last year I went everyday. It was this hilarious juxtaposition of an American style gym filled with Italian workout mentalities. I had a new adventure each day.

Hi Soho Babi,

If you're doing all cardio you might lose the weight gradually, but when you stop running you will put it all back on.

If you follow a diet of 800 calories a day (healthy foods like vegies, low gi fruits, and 1 large handsized portion of lean meat per day - no less than 800 calories or the body will try to keep weight on because you're starving it!) and start a training regime (get a personal trainer for a few lessons to teach you how to use weights - free weights are best) that builds stabiliser/lean muscle, you will find you will tone up and lose the bits that look "flabby."

Note: no matter how hard you weight train as a female, you will not gain muscle like a man does nor look manly - if anything you will slim down but the scales will make you think you've put on weight (muscle weighs more than fat).

Weight training works because when you stop training, the body continues to burn calories to fuel itself. The moment you stop running, your body ceases to burn calories :)

A combination of both will keep you both healthy and fabulous looking!

My problem though ruru is that I lurve my food way too much...like seriously, everyone always says that I eat wayyyy too much...that I am always eating. I exercise heaps but I want to lose weight! I need a miracle to lose 3 k g. My metabolism is wonderful but I want to be able to have that mechanism within my brain that restrains me from that jam donut or my third jam donut!! Know wot I mean?
