Well well well , she is different and thats why her fans love her so much.
Like Dali , Warhol , Chappell and Madonna.
She has a massive and growing fan base and I am so proud to say I am one of them .
I love her because she beats her own drum ,there are so many safe players and sheep in this industry , we are desperate for a new leader , a new trend setter ,a new rule breaker.
What she has acomplished in such a short time as a creative artist ,writer, musician , creative visionary is amazing . She is the real deal and she is in your face and will be for a very long time.
from a creative photographer point of view fashion sometimes needs to be very interesting , fresh ,and wow factor.

I'm yet to see her set a *single* fashion trend.

At the VMAs; I think this first picture captures precisely how scary she is.

I think Lady Gaga IS playing it safe, and she IS a sheep.

Lets face it, when she dresses like this, she is going to get attention. She can dress like a retard and safely say she'll get press, not like other artists who get to where they are due to their work, their talent or their personality. Lady Gaga plays it safe by wearing the most disgusting, outlandish, theatrical mess she can, because she knows she'll get the media snapping away at it. And she has people to protect her if she ever needs it...
Because she dresses like this, she doesn't need to put any effort into her music, because it'll get listened to due to the media coverage. Which is really quite depressing about todays music industry.

And in this sense she is also a sheep, to the likes of Jordan, Jodie Marsh and other people in the celebrity world that will do anything for attention, and care about nothing but money and fame. What she has done as a "creative artist" is nothing short of generic.

Frankly, I'm totally into it. She certainly doesn't influence my personal style, but good god she's fun to look at.

Well. I've read this entire thread and you people just love to rant and make fun. She is a talented, very talented in fact, young woman who has become an icon to millions of people.

If you saw most of her clothes on runways you would hail them. Just because you wouldn't wear it, doesn't mean its trash or 'costumes'. She is eccentric and theres absolutely nothing wrong with that. Not everybody wants to wear oxfords and cheesy argyle sweaters and tights. Get over yourselves, self proclaimed fashionistas. Designers love her, shes here to stay. Even if she doesn't stay in music forever, shes around to stay forever in fashion, that is for sure.

We would. We also hail naked women on the catwalk. The catwalk is very, very different to the street.

Just because you wouldn't wear it, doesn't mean its trash or 'costumes'.

I don't think anyone has accused the individual outfits of being trash. Au contraire, it's the styling which is off. But yes, they are costumes. A lot of the pieces were never intended as anything more than exercises of marketing; an attempt for the designer to distinguish themselves on the catwalk and in editorials. Again, the street is neither.

She is eccentric and theres absolutely nothing wrong with that.

Agreed, there is nothing wrong with eccentricity. The trouble for Lady GaGa is that few people believe it's eccentricity, rather accepting that it's a gratuitous attempt for publicity.

Not everybody wants to wear oxfords and cheesy argyle sweaters and tights.

They don't so, uhm, the don't.

Designers love her.

How many catwalks did she sit front row at? That'll tell you how many designers love her. I think you'll find the number runs contrary to your assumption.

shes here to stay.

She's only here as long as she's fresh. Given she's more famous for outlandish fashion than music, she'll depend on her fashion to look fresh. Outlandishness will soon seem status quo, and run against the grain. This thread is simple evidence of that fact.

Even if she doesn't stay in music forever, shes around to stay forever in fashion, that is for sure.

Again, no. To stay in fashion she'd have to be a continually successful designer, not a media seeking clothes horse.

So its ok for designers to use fashion as ploys for attention but its whoreish for a person? Who cares if the runway is different than the streets, who says it has to be? Who wants to be boring...why can't we wear 'costumes' daily. Fashion shouldn't be taken too seriously.

Clearly she isn't doing it for the money, she spends far too much to be turning too much of a profit. She's great. She truly appreciates her fans, it seems. Thats all that matters. We love her.

Well carry on loving her.

We don't mind in the slightest, as long as you don't begrudge us our feelings either.
