I'll do a short introduction:

I'm a Master student Fashion Communication from Amsterdam. And for my graduation I have to do a research. I want to know what outside the Netherlands people know and think about Dutch fashion.

So please tell me all about what you know, or if you don't know anything at all it is also important to mention.

I really hope you can spent a little bit of your time to react on this topic, so I can get a good picture about what you think of Dutch fashion, which designers you know, and maybe what you think is typical Dutch fashion Design.
And of course to help me with my research.

THANX!!!

Hmm, off the top of my head I can't say I can think of too many Dutch fashion designers, bar for Viktor & Rolf and I think Marlies Dekkers is also Dutch. I'm sure there must be plenty more that I can't think of..!

Hello,

In a very close examination of European fashions trends which also took a look a recent Dutch efforts, the Dutch are simply being outdone in both web traffic and response to recent market trends. Presently and in a safer environment in which both European and American women are becoming self - aware, additional choices in stylings, and how one wish to publically reprented and at times showing more curverature in public have dramatically increased. IE: Paris, France Fshions and Trendsetters website URL =http://euro-quest.tripod.com/paris_france_fashions_and_trendsetters/index.html for example. This touches lightly on something which is becoming very big.

Younger designers are all trying to match the deigns of Tokyo Street Fashions, new personal sociocultural expectations, and what is being seen at late night private parties; thus in Paris there is now Paris Street Fashions focus. There are alot efforts which are now going into this, and there so much of the internet which can or can not be furthered used - exploited [ While google is going into melt - down by increased indexing triggered by massive influx of new websites from tbe Pacific Rim of Nations]. Those in London are now stepping up and taking the initiative and as a result Oslo, Copenhagen, and others like tbe Dutch all have lost out as a result.

Reality: Since the development of the new European currency, the Euro, the purchasing power of both European teens and young adults were able to catch up with the American's, and have become more Intercommunal as result to the growing ethos and sociocultural perception of the Superpower of European Youth in all its alternative interests and willness to embrace life. Thus America is in danger of lossing its market share as a result.

The Dutch has a lot of work in order to gain a market share - as those in both Madrid and Milan are now, likewise, fully aware.

If you are Dutch yourself then really dig in hard and start to relook at both physical forms and personal emotions of ego and try to redraw an image which others have not seen-this is what the Dutch must do.

I wish you a happy and enriched life.

Yours Truely,

Roger M. Christian

I'm a huge fan of northern European designers of all mediums. They usually express a clean simplicity while simultaneously creating drama; hard to describe. I love that they are always pushing the boundaries of what is accepted in the marketplace. I feel most fashion labels and houses in Paris or Milan can be too steeped in traditional values and barriers to really experiment. That's what I have come to believe from keeping up with global style and design.
