i think that only searching the internet before you shop can be a negative experience as you can loose some perspective gained from 'real life' browsing. The internet is important for figuring out what is going to be in and finding a cutting-edge style, but I also like art and so i guess art influences me in my search for fashion, browsing shops and accessing other people's outfits also helps create an awareness of how things fit together that might not be gained from the internet and this interest in outfits and appearances doesn't have to be confined to the young, famous or wealthy.

I hate buying fashion magazines for one thing- by the time fashion makes it to the mainstream realm of fashion magazines it should have reached the peak of it's lifecycle and I have to figure out a new way to wear it- in general fashion works in circles- often lovely, little high-end boutique shops will give away free fashion magazine, which often reinstates what fashion trends I've been pondering are actually viable.

We are a group of MBA students from Denmark and Canada who love fashion and were interested in finding out how people on the cutting edge of fashion find new and upcoming designers. We feel that people on the real cutting edge arent just looking at celebrities latest fashions or buying stuff from the major labels. How do cutting edge fashionistas find new, hot designers?

You can attend Alternative Fashion Week this April here in London. This is an event where you can find new style and designers.

I used to google at least twice a month the new fashion trends. But the information I received wasn't always accurate. For all I know, the web pages could have been created by middle school students, as if it were a project or assignment. Also sometimes the information would be the same boring information. Fashion is changing every day so I couldn't rely too much on google.
I sometimes subscribe to fashion magazines. For instance Glamour and Bazaar always have fun articles and cute helpful ads.
The school I attend now provide facts about the newest trends on the street and on the runway.
Most importantly though is the word of mouth or just observe the streets and the malls on your own. No need to follow what reports say. Get active and look around you world because fashion is everywhere.
