DONT GET IPODS!!! You cant change the battery and the sound quality is the worst. Argh why did the government even allow them to be imported!!!

I too have a broken one, it's had the battery replaced 3 times, and now they are trying to say it's my fault.

That sucks, I know my mum went through three before she got one that worked fine, I just recently gave my old one away, and I havent bought a new one to replace it yet, which one should I get?

Details of the Christmas line-up are starting to emerge;

Apple will roll out the second generation of its iPod nano music player at its Worldwide Developers Conference, insiders tell Think Secret. The new nano is said to be very similar to the company's current offering but will feature increased capacity and be available in multiple colors, some of which will feature a metal alloy enclosure.

Exact capacities are not known, but reasonable speculation suggests the line will top out at 6GB or 8GB.

Apple introduced the 5G iPod with a 2.5-inch display and video playback capabilities last October. The company has since been hard at work on the sixth-generation iPod, which will feature a 3.5-inch touch-screen display. Apple was originally targeting an early-to-mid 2006 release of the new iPod and was hoping to launch the device alongside the new movie offerings at the iTunes Music Store, but the company has encountered technical obstacles that have since pushed the release back to early 2007.

The G6 sounds great, but I'd also wait and get one of the newer nanos depending on the colour :)

I just got my hands on an iriver clix - it's porn. There's no denying the ipod has this market by the gonzos but in the realms of music I prefer function over form and the clix does it for me. It's about the size of a matchbox and has this wicked screen that plays whatever (videos etc) and its like a pressure pad you just click either corner to navigate. Only problem is it's a measley 2GB :(

I think that these days most everyone seems to own an iPod - so which do you own? I'd be interested to know if anyone has bought any of the competing brands, and what they think of them too :)

Personally I own a silver 4g iPod Mini. The back is engraved with "Prius frangitur quam flectitur".

The iriver sounds pretty cool. I think a lot of the other companies are coming out with some awesome offerings in an attempt to compete. Which is semi-ironical given Apple first owned the space by creating a simple device with fewer features.

Has anyone heard anything about Apple unveling another iPod phone at the upcoming conference? I've just come back from a weekend of polo and some chap in the mobile phone industry was saying they've got another up their sleeves, but wasn't sure about a release date or such.

I have a sleek little 30G white video ipod, with my name engraved on the back :) It was a pressie from the boy for my birthday. As far as I know though, you can get the batteries changed by sending them back to apple (that is if you acquired your ipod via the usual means)
