omfg! that's just plain old ugly!!! good god shoot the planning people now, puh-lease!!! or ship them to HK or somewhere else. What the hell happened to class and elegance?

I know a lot of really bad design and unnecessary demolition goes on in Melbourne... but that is just beyond me. I can't believe MYER would be that crass and pathetic as to even consider ruining that streetscape for such a horrendous design.

Serious here, people; boycott!!

I've heard on the grapevine that the current owners' plans have been stopped in their tracks by Heritage Victoria, including stopping the plans for the internal spiral escalator. I might just go back to that source and see what I can find out...
I understand that some of the contruction that's been going on has been stopped recently due to the possible discovery of asbestos.

God I hope so. If they ruin our city's fabric, it's only fair that they too get hit in some way.

Well if they do go ahead with the fugly new bit, I will definitely join the boycott.

I'll boycott them just for considering it. A wart on the heritage building, and the demolition of another. Pathetic effort.
