OH MY GOD RAPE RAPEEEEEE! My eyes were raped.
myer is shit anyway - so was the move to create the "basement"- cmon like we need another bardot. You can find the exact same stuff around the corner at melb central etc...

maybe they should restore the building.... i dunno. turn it into a house... give it to me. hehe

Sad. The modern plans are so unremarkable, it's awful that they've already started tearing stuff down.

It's one of Lenin's clones by the looks of it, he's on the far right as well.

so they're going to be selling cars from the top floor now? logistically how's that going to happen?

looks like they're going to be selling road bikes as well two floors down :)

i don't mind change, change is good but what they're proposing is just tacky.

nice architecture, just lacks personality inside. all the floors look the same, be brain dead by the time i hit the second floor.

If you haven't read my other thread, this redevelopment is potentially causing the demolition of Lonsdale House, one of Melbourne's examples of fine Art Deco architecture.

Tomorrow (Wednesday) is the latest time to submit an opinion on the permit application. You can email:

heritage.permits@dpcd.vic.gov.au
planning@melbourne.vic.gov.au
justin.madden@parliament.vic.gov.au

Personally I object to the whole development, but at the very least I think Lonsdale House should remain. Their reason for demolition? Widening the laneway so trucks can get through.
