Why do women wear high heels?

Last Updated: 10.01.2010 at 14.41
Hello,

During the time of King Louis XIV he deliberate prompted a massive expansion in French Fashions. See my Article in Ballet and Modern Dance Cites Website = http://the-falcon1.tripod.com/ballet_modern/id22.html for details. Up to this era there were High Heals in Venice [ Largely to restrict the movement of teenage daughters of the Upper Middle Class Ruling Classes which spread to their wives later on. ]or Milan [ Essentially for the same reason. ] None the less, Louis XIV suddenly realized that high heals made it possible for women in the new fashions innovations [ Dresses got to be so large, and very much Howard Hughes design the Bra for Jane Russell, the lavish dresses needed frame supports and achor belts around the waist. ] was pushing his designed court culture needed a shoe to maintain balance and the single importance to climb stairs at the sametime.

Then what really got the producers of new high heals fashions off and running is that they can now have expensive Jewels as part of their design. French and later on other European women experiencing Louis court cultural innovations were captivate and their ego-centricities caught fire all over Euorope itself- every female in Europe's Whose Who had to wear them. This meant it was going to cost more money and Louis saw a tax benefit in such promotions within his innovative court culture. More money into the King Treasury were being likewise produced in the resulting French export tariffs as well as both Paris Fashions and Shoes were being sold in every European capital and mjaor urban center. Interesting enough when women kick a man in these times, their legs were often more stronger than the males in court, and males fell totally unexpectantly like a ton of bricks [ The expression ' she kicks like a horse ' became court central gossip. ], and no wonder as dresses started to weigh heavier and heavier each year in his court - as well as what they wore on top of their heads.

After that the resulting shapely legs, the limitations of female movement on the ground - from a male adventurer advances, often for rape - ever since made high heals a permenant fashion presence. What did it for females during these times 1500s - 1700s is the socioeconomicn class structures which had distinct sociocultural rules of fashions. Even Queen Elizabeth I [ and earlier ],and Ladies of her own court culture likewise had the Jewels and other design flourish which can be added - an idea imported from an unknown dress designer who was from somewhere in Italy [ according to her Royal notes].

The only time in which this picture changed was how they were modified during the 20s and 30s to fit Channel CoCo's fashions visions and as such they got lower and more confortable with broadening of the heal structures. Furthermore, and especially when you view Sucide Girls dot Com high heals became a sexual fettish first on the West Bank of Paris during the 1950s and then during the sexual revolution of the 1960s - 1970s.

What should be pointed in closing: High heals are physically harmful to women who are constantly on their feet as part of their careers [ Models, Waitress, Dancers, and more recently those in the Military ]. The internal tensions it impacts upon a certain group of female professional internal workings [ IE ovarian cysts ] are all harmful, and in prenatal conditions no high heals what so ever. There are alarming discoveries being made at the University of Michigan and at Boston College, which are the very [ extremely sad to for male related research out-spends these programs four to one ] few Medical research facilities who are focusing on female realted health issues [ who made these connections in the first place via their sub-topical Dance Medicine ], which could one day cause warning lables to appear adjacent to the sell of high heals female wear.

They certainly elongate your legs making them look slimmer and engage the muscles so they appear more fit. Your feet apear arched and smaller but more importantly you look taller. They are a feminine staple. I ADORE mine!

Heels instantly take you to the amazonian level if you're lucky! Plus, they change your BMI by adding an extra 2, 3, 4 ... inches, hence your leaner without even hitting the gym, magic.

I love them but they don't always need to be too high. Moderate high heels are perfect. They are very comfortable and automatically help you walk more elegantly.

Let's face it, a lot of fashion has nothing to do with practicality (and in fact is often at odds with it). Heels hurt and are bad for women's backs, plain and simple. Yet another example of the female species (of which I am one) suffering in the name of fashion... find me one woman who doesn't secretly wish she could spend all day in flats and sneakers!

We all have different reasons. My reasons for wearing high heels are:

- i like them. they're very cute and stylish
- it makes me a little taller
- sometimes it makes me feel more confident
- like Kymmie said: "poise"

I look really akward in flats. Probobly because i'll be walking and my subconscious will remind me how much more confident and sophisticated I look in pumps.
Not that either type of shoe is better than the other, it's a personally choice.
