I am a uni student with Monash, and I am currently working on an assignment - A 2500 page report on how a company (I chose the company I work for) can use 2 management theories (chosen from Planning, Organising, Leading or Controlling) to ensure they use/have ecologically sustainable management values and practices in place, to assist in protecting & repairing the damage done to our environment.

This report, although only for Uni, my manager actually wants to take my report and put it in to action for our company!

I am part of an ecological program in high school
which organizes little local concerts to help the
environment and organizes tree planting. I also
separate my trash.

i do what i can on a day to day basis... nothing grand like drilling new wells... but what i am able to.

little things like bring my own bags to the grocery store, recycling, supporting local farmers and artisans, donating to non-profits, leaving food for the homeless man behind my street, being kind whenever i can.
little drops that i hope add up to something bigger than me.

Well, I'm a teenanger yet and I do as much as possible.
First, I try to help environment with not using too much energy, saving water, buing ecological products, e.t.c.
secondly, I'm trying to make our house more ecological with the help of my parents, who I convinced to be more eco frindly.
Thirdly, I gave some speeches in my school with the help of two experts to give my schoolmates understand this problem and help them find ways to protect environment.
Fourthly, I also gave some speeches in my town during some festivals and one of them was organised especially for the environment from some ecologists, some schoolmates and me.
Fifthly, two other guys and me, as representatives of a group in my town, talked to the mayor about this problem and we found ways to fight it. thank god our ideas are on from June.
and last but not least, my group that I told before is making some seminars for environment and my team is helping children to understand the problem and protect it.

Well this is what I do for environment and I hope to find other ways to help it much more.

My friend and I started our own label which is called Sinerji. We make clothing out of hand loomed (no factories) organic cotton, we use natural vegetable dyes which are set using eucalypt rather than a toxic mordant, and we hand make jewellery with recycled Sterling Silver and locally sourced gem stones. We have researched Bamboo fibre and have discovered it is the most environmentally responsible fibre so far. It grows organically, quickly, uses little water, and the process of refining it into fibre requires less chemicals than most fabric. We have sourced a bamboo supplier, and a tiny cooperative of laid off factory workers, who will sew for us. The group have rented sewing machines and a small warehouse, and we will pay them directly, (the prices are set by the group per order) and which are well above the national standard. We will soon have a Bamboo range to add to our Organic Cotton. We print on recycled paper (but email almost everything), ride bikes to work, and eat Organic produce bought from our local farmers market.

hi, i work at an ad agency in South Africa, and we firmly believe in recycling, whether it be paper, plastic, tin or glass. we have gone even further in saving power and electricity by keeping unnecessary appliances off and saving paper by only printing jobs that are for a client...Yes we have plenty tree huggers down here!!!love the bangles!!and hopefully they will be seen as a symbol in inspiring change aswell.
thanks!!

Well I believe that you need to start with your own environment, so as well as the usual composting and recycling I go to regular "style swaps" where you can swap your pre-loved clothing for pieces no longer wanted by others. Vintage shops are also a bit of an obsession, and a great way to get "a look" on the cheap for any member of the family. I have also just sucessfully raised over $7000 for a friend who needs a heart transplant, and has ongoing costly medical bills. We are off to Bali in August and are taking all the families old clothing and some books and art supplies to an orphanage over there, and my children have organised with their school to do a collection. It is not much and I wish we could do more. PS thanks for your wonderful site, fab fashion and inspiration. x

When I first read this forum, I thought oh my goodness, what DO I do that helps others and the envirnoment!?

After thinking, I realised I don't do anything particularly significant but a few minor things that add up to doing 'my part'. We are hitting a frosty winter here in New Zealand, and I choose to leave the car parked at home and walk to uni each day. I've also stopped paper statements on my accounts so that they are only recieved via email and my flatmates and I are all recyclers.. not to forget, my trelise cooper reusable shopping bag! (thanks mum)

I also go back to my parents house every weekend and help my mum out with housework, cooking etc to help take the stress off her shoulders and am a dedicated friend and sister who finds great satisfaction in just being there and helping out.
