Apparently so:

TOP US designer Zac Posen has made his name with fabulous celebrity gowns and now he is bringing his red carpet look to Target.

The 28-year-old New York fashion star, a favourite of Gwyneth Paltrow and Katherine Heigl, has been announced as the next international big name to create a designer discount range for the store.

"This range allows my clothes to be worn by a new customer, and I'm particularly happy that this could occur in Australia," Mr Posen said.

A red carpet success, Posen put Heigl in a stunning white gown with fishtail hem at the Emmys last year and he's recreated the look in red for Target. This time it comes at a fraction of the Hollywood price, at $299.99.

That makes it the most expensive item in the 20-piece limited edition range, which starts at $49.99.

Posen's collection for Target also includes fitted high-waisted pants and asymmetrical skirts with matching suit jackets, cocktail dresses with brocade trim and elaborate shirts that echo the looks of his high-priced designer line.

He describes the line as "colourful prints balanced with more architectural and structural pieces".

Posen is the second international designer to create a range for Target, with the launch of Stella McCartney's line last year attracting record crowds.

The range of autumn winter looks goes into selected Target stores from April 3.

Zac Posen for Target Australia? That's a brilliant score on both parts, raising both profiles.

Time to get ready for the snatch-and-grab

...This time Target will be stocking a much smaller run, and the Posen clothes will be available in only 75 of the 276 Target and Target Country stores. The McCartney range was stocked in 100 Target stores...
Only 50 of the the Heigl dresses will be available, a Target spokeswoman said.

Wow that's actually going to be quite nasty for consumers. I can understand why Target is doing this, however, it really hasn't worked in the past. Be thankful that most Australians aren't fashionisers - Zac's profile will at least be small to them.

Not that I'm aware of. They've announced that it'll be previewed during Melbourne Fashion Festival which I suspected would be the case.

Will this be in the states too? I absolutely love Zac Posen, his styles are bold with fabric and colors that are simple so the focus is strongly on the design and construction of the garment. This is really exciting! Being a native of the state where Target has it's headquarters it's my dream to work for their GO! International line selecting which designer to bring in and make a mass market line from their creation. Please post updates!
