ok, well i just wanted to know whats the best way to break up with someone that you have been dating for a while and now you just dont feel anything towards them except as a friend. how do you make that person not feel that used? Are there any good excuses?

The best thing to do is to be straightforward and honest. Tell them you no longer want to be in a relationsip with them. You don't need to be make excuses or justify yourself. It may hurt them initially but it makes it a lot easier for them to get over you. I also think its important to cut off all contact for awhile, relationships, especially long term ones are really easy to just 'fall back into'.

I guess also depends on how the other half of the relationship feels about it. Relationships can just peter out, after all. If there isn't a chance of that, then missfancypants' advice is right on target :)

The longer you wait - the more stress, sadness, frustration for you - and the harder it will be to "get the words out". PLUS that much less time to put yourself out there and find a new magical relationship.

Kill the monster while it's still a baby. Remove the tumor while it's still small!

Take a deep breath and say the words like you'd like to hear them. You'll be happier 60 minutes later.

Life too short.

He he...well at 15 you can just become conveniently unavailable...no divorces involved or children :-) so all will be good....ur young, you have ur whole life ahead of you...
Or just be up front, this is good experience for the real world. Just remember that you can't be responsible for his feelings or actions, you are only in control of urs.
Im interested to know how u went about it emo_kid...if u've done it yet.

I always find the best way is to get caught in your bed with 3 very hot girls writhing about you... always sends the right message, not to mention it's straightforward. At the very least you might find they broaden there sexual horizons there and then and join in... win-win situation. Hurrah.
