help & opinion on my formal dress!

Posted: 13.05.2008 at 00.05
So, here is my dress:

It looks better without the skirt being angled like it is in the photo!

I'm trying to go for a classic feel; does anyone know where to get pearl earrings, bracelet and necklace?? I think they need to be white rather than ivory due to the white bow.

I'm going to be wearing black silk shoes and wrist-length lace gloves also.

What do you think??

Any thoughts/opinions/criticisms??

I like it! It is very classy.
Black lace or white lace for the gloves? I'm trying to picture them with the rest of the dress.

Thanks for posting the pic, Daniel!

The gloves are black lace :)

As soon as I tried the dress on no other I tried could compare! Plus, it was the only 'full-length' dress which was long enough without needing to be tailored (Although I may get this dress tailored to my torso)! :)

Also, any suggestions about hair? I'm a red head and was thinking down with loose curls and gathered to one side... perhaps a pearl hair-piece?

I agree with Ruru, the loose curls to the side with something in it will look perefect with that dress. fabulous choice, you are going to look stunning. I can not wait to see photos.

If you are wearing gloves then dont wear a bracelet, its overkill. Too many pearls can also look a bit tacky. If you want to wear a pearl head piece then I would avoid wearing a solid string of pearls as a necklace. You dont want it to look like you've raided your mothers jewelry box.

Good point - thanks Danica!!

Thanks for all the great feedback!!

For the necklace, I was hoping to find something which sat up on my neck (not a choker though) with a centre-piece and one strand of pearls. Simple drop pearl earrings too.

Any suggestions where I can find a set?

I'm thinking plain black silk clutch too, although I have a small antique black beaded bag - I'll take a photo and show! I'm not sure if it would be too intricate though.

How long do you have before the formal and how much are you budgeting for the pearls?

Tiffany have some beautiful pearl necklaces. This one is sort of what I am imagining you wearing with that dress without a head piece:
