The JC Report posted an article about a new "seasonless fashion" movement, where designers are creating garments that transcend either the environmental seasons, or fashion seasons in what is more specifically called "slow fashion."
I am interested in hearing your reactions.

In recent years, the retail fashion industry has added additional transitional seasons to their yearly assortment, trying to keep with consumers attention spans and their own financial goals. (New product, means more excitement, means more sales. and round and round it goes.) The pace that the fashion industry refreshes itself is dizzying especially with the popular onset of 'fast fashion' outlets like H&M, Topshop and Forever 21.
Is it really necessary? Do we really need to be so indulgent as to wear an item for a season then unabashedly cast clothing away? Does personal expression make fashion exempt from sustainability and environmental responsibility?
I think it's rather inevitable for fashion to become somewhat seasonless. While I touched on the issue as a part of my coverage of the effects of the economy on fashion, I personally think that seasonless fashion will come about as a result of the Internet. Who in Australia really wants to wait a whole year to get their hands on an upcoming European designers next collection? Similarly, which designer would want a cheap high-street store ripping of their designs before they've even released them, simply because they've previewed them so far ahead and allowed for the opportunity.
