i-D Heather Marks and Yeeessah Lara's set finally:) and some debate..

Good set with Heather Markes, some here..

and great to see Lara's (Stone at IMG) set finally here in print. Hope the few parts of it I post here wont cause the site problems: it shouldn't in this day and age. More and more as models we are all being asked to do these kind of shots as many publications now are more emancipated to deal with fashion photography in it's widest forms. Who dares to define different types of photography is a brave person! Fashion/perfume etc photography has always been amount sexual allure, from a Cavalli dress to a Victoria Secrets outfit and the image of the male and female form is always in some state of dress or undress. Does the fact that on one of her shots, there is mention that she is wearing Prada socks make that a fashion pic, while the other with no outfit credits would pass for just excellent photography of the female form? When is a fashion pic a fashion pic:) Most of us don't care too much, providing the shot is beautiful and is in the right publication and the rates are good, it provides us with work and exciting challenging work and long may it continue! It is the quality of the work, it's context, it's purpose and it's audience that matter.

fashion pic..?

not fashion pic?

fashion pic?

not fahsion pic?

which?

It really doesnt matter to me. France has always had a wonderful open attitude to fashion, photography and advertsing, stemming from the innate freedom of spirit of the French and their genuine love of form, beauty and sensuality. It's good to see a wealth of publications also with this spirit and providing escape from the banality of some old fashion and lifestyle publications that now are struggling with their content and their censors:) Trash can stay in the trash can but let's not also bury good work.

These shots are hot and not trashy at least I think so, especially compared to these

I have to agree with that sentiment from a consumer stand point. Excellent photography has it's place in fashion magazines. Magazines are going to have to become, high-quality photo journals - in this day and age they can't keep up with the news, and increasingly we're turning to the Internet for our editorials.

'fashion' as a statement is no longer just about the clothes i dont believe, the industry cover so many different aspects one of the most massive ones being photography... anyone who is into photography uses it as a fashion staement in itself, there fore it is definitly not about the brand the model is wearing but about the dynamics of the photo, the ellure, the fact it makes you think, you create your own story based around each photo... that is what makes a photo art and not just a shoot for a mag, that what creates A FANTASTIC FASHION SHOOT and I love that... seriously! I love a photo to make me think... to fall in love with it, feel attached to it... it is fantastic!
