I found this interesting this morning. A very good friend of mine has come down from Brisbane on a shopping trip with her mum and asked me where she should go. Normally when my friends come down we jump in the car and I just drive from one side of melbourne to the other to all of my favourite little spots all over the place, but today I realised I dont know where the best "spot" is at the moment. Obviously "green with envy" is doing big things, so is it still the CBD? Or what about all of St Kilda's boutiques and ofcourse South Yarra (Toorak Rd, Chapel St, and Greville) Now we are not talking thousands of dollars shopping trip here we are talking a super cool early 20s like me who wants to pick up some awesome "melbourne" style stuff that will last forever but not cost $900 a peice...

What is your opinion on the "best" Melbourne shopping spot?

I always find myself in the CDB. Chapel Street is close on dead to me (American Apparel it's one saving grace), Toorak Road too small, the likes of Brunswick simply too hard to park around. But the city has most everything inside it, reasonable public transport, and Mag Nation.

Yea.. i agree on that.
not much places to get 'melbourne candies' at a low price unless it is on sales.
Apparently sales happen all the time on Smith St and Bridge st.
im sure you will get something mad there =D

I'm a fan of Brunswick street myself.
It's easy to tram it from the city and it has
a mix of boutiques, op-shops and warehouses :)

The CBD, especially Lt. Collins. Once upon a time, Chadstone was a great place to shop ... but it's dead to me now.

honestly just go the city. the city has everything. i mean there's madam virtue, the stores on collins street, marais, christine's, zambesi, assin etc.
that being said, gertrude street is also worth a visit though. i love ess-hoshika laboratory and everything at left is usually quite gorgeous and rather well-priced.
