Hey guys,

As a melbournian that is quite in the middle of the indy night sceen, and having lived in Brisbane, I feel that there is a real lack in brisbane that could quite easily be tapped in to. I have some awesome ideas for 'nights' at venues - streetparty style for those of you in the know - and i was just wondering if any of you have any advice or knowlege on starting up something like this. I have a proposal, opening ideas, band contacts ect ect... but all advice is good advice and I would love some feedback.

Fashion styling is what I want to do, but I am very good - as it turns out - at running smaller events, and I am thinking that tapping into this party planning industry, and free lancing myself and therfore my talents, is only going to help in all aspects of my life... but is it really this easy... could it really work as well as I want it too?

Thankyou for your time, I really look forward to hearing back form you all.

Just to confirm Corrine, you want to do this in Melbourne (not brisbane) right?

Its a great idea to do more street party style stuff and to bring the indy flavour along, I just came back from overseas and noticed that there was a much stronger social vibe overseas - Melbourne can do with things other than going to a standard bar on a saturday night - there is room for more variation in the times and styles and places to go to so I say go for it!!! If you know you have a knack for it then definately try, especially if you already have contacts.

The weather might be the only annoying thing because it gets cold sometimes, what does everyone else think?

Hey Ren,

No my thoughts are on taking this to Brisbane... may reasons, but the biggest being I think there is a real hole in the social sceen, and that this could quite possibly really take off up there.

Not being a Queenslander I can't offer you too much, but I can say that from the times I've been there something is definitely needed!

From a business perspective, how many Brisbane promoters or club owners do you know? Have you thought about doing a string of things in Melbourne first and then taking the 'formula' up there?

i have a few connections about the place and know a few club promoters, although with my plan i dont need them so much as i will be sourcing my own throughout the people I know up there. These people have the potential to be doing stuff within the industry but due to the clickiness and daftness of the brisbane nightlife haven't done anything about it thus far. I have a feeling that I have an ability to make a big movement in brisbane, where as doing that in melbourne would prove alot more difficult due to the competition here. Everynight of the week we have some where cool to go for a drink or a dance... that doesnt excist everywhere else around australia, and it annoys me! I am very spontanious and with my lifestyle any day of the week can turn into the equivelant of a staurday night, and I like to make the most of that... I do realise not everyone is like that, but alot of people are... therfore why not get paid to party??!! hehe
