its all god talking bout clothes but what desperate measures do u take to look after them i refuse to spend a lot of money on 1 item of clothing then wear it a few times and give up coz it looks crap. washing machines as convenient as they are run clothes and i hate hand washing it just doesnt do it for me, so what tips do u guys have to looking after clothes, cleaning them and maintaining them.

Also i have these really nice shorts wich have faded over time how can i get the colour back in them

dry cleaning? though i tend to only do that for the expensive stuff which i want to last. try washing delicate items in a lingerie bag (you can get them from all lingerie stores) which will help protect them.

All my coats, jackets and delicate items are sent to the dry cleaners (excluding sequined and embellished items) Most of my other items are hand washed in cold water using a gentle cleanser and line dried or laid flat to dry. Items that can withstand the washing machine are washed in cold water and placed in the dryer on a cool setting.

Dry cleaning for those which require it, and hand washing will add a substantial amount of time to the clothing's life.

Dry cleaning!! But be sure to advise the dry cleaner of any small & inconspicious spots, as sometimes if u don't advise they don't come out...
I have a brand new washing machine so most (if not all) of my garments I can throw on a silk cycle & they're fine...
With the faded shorts send them to the dry cleaner as they also dye ur clothes..
God bless the man who invented dry cleaning.

to stop jeans/coloured pants from fading so quickly ( especially black jeans/denim shorts) just turn them inside out before the go into the washing machine- very simple, but it does make the colour on the outside stay a fair while longer!

Dry cleaning is my hero. Also, use a front loading washing machine like they have at the laundromats. They use less water and are much gentler on cloths than an agitator machine. Use a very delicate detergent like Woolite for everything. Wash jeans separately from everything and turn them inside out. Put delicate things in a lingerie bag to help prevent snagging/twisting/stretching etc. If you iron things, buy a pressing cloth, it helps protect the clothes but still allows the steam to pass through. The best thing for getting wrinkles though is buying a professional steam press - it doesn't press the fibers of the fabric down like ironing does. Mine was $200 and VERY much worth it!

They are worth it!!!
Also use starch on collared shirts...it is a true gem.
