Underdone to perfection. It’s a recurrent theme at Gail Elliot’s label LIttle Joe, into which she injects her own brand of one-time-supermodel effortless glamour. Backstage at her spring 2011 Little Joe show L’Oreal Professional Hair Director, Brad Ngata, kept that feeling of being ‘undone’ in a lightly textured yet flowing and free hairstyle.
For a how-to guide on recreating the look, read the full post after the jump.
How to create the look
- Apply a generous amount of mousse to the roots of towel-dried hair. The L’Oreal team used Tecni Art Volume Lift followed by an application of Tecni Art Full Volume Extra, to ensure great texture.
TIP: By double-moussing the hair, you get a thicker hair with raw texture that shapes easily when heat styling. - Middle part the hair before blow-drying the product in, ensuring you direction the hair forward and flat to the head at the roots. The volume should be in the mid-lengths only.
- Use straightening irons or a curling tong to randomly kink small sections of hair all around the head. This creates the undone textured effect.
- Finish the look with a light spray of product (at Little Joe the team used L’Oreal’s Infinium Lumiere) to hold in the light waves.
