When Daniel wrote about the long plaited braid in our 2010 hair trends bible, I knew it would only be a short time before we started seeing one of our new favourite hairstyle everywhere. I was right, I didn’t have to wait long because just around the corner was January 2010 US Vogue with the editorial entitled Jackets of all Trades.
While the editorial itself focuses on jackets, which fit very nicely within the 2010 fashion trends, we’ve decided to focus on Kasia Struss’ messy side braid thanks to the expert hair styling of Guido Palau. Though what makes Kasia’s hair perfectly in line with trend is the way the fringe itself is not woven into the braid but is left to flow with it; this is our expert tip to complete the style. The look is very reminiscent of the ones we saw on models such as Natasha Poly on the Alexander Wang Spring / Summer 2010 runway, and one we predict you’ll be seeing a lot more of in future.
