Looking for an early indication of 2010 hair trends? Then look to the new hairstyles that the world’s leadings models will be sporting in the approaching Spring/Summer 2010 fashion week season, which kicks off on 10 September with New York Fashion Week.

Several models are sporting new hair cuts and amongst the fringes and new lengths, it’s the short black which is catching our eye.

Two models have gone for the look; Daul Kim, whose interpretation is far more conservative but suits her Far East appeal, and Irina Lazareanu, whose short black pays homage to the 60s mod revival and channels 60s scenester and model Peggy Moffitt.

Neither are ‘out there’ hairstyles, but are perfectly placed for what may transpire to be both a conservative and revivalist season as the fashion industry works to pull itself out of the economic black hole sinking many companies.

Late one Oxford night Daniel P Dykes set about creating a fashion publication that would go someway to being an arbiter on fashion as it appeals to the emerging power generations: those who don't remember a world without the Internet and for whom work plays second fiddle to pleasure. And so Fashionising.com was born as a publication for those who were focussed not just on fashion's trends, but on society's too, and how those trends could all go to heighten the art of living. Hence, Daniel sees a future where, for those young at heart, both fashion and style are grounded in traditional quality, but with a youthful, sensualised edge. Daniel is Fashionising.com's Editor in Chief and Chairman.
