A ballerina is always associated with a certain level of elegance and poise. With that being said, many women have drawn inspiration from ballerinas in the past, exuding an air of sophistication in the process. The Nina Ricci woman, much like a ballerina, is confident and graceful, and this is what Redken creative consultant Guido Palau had in mind when he created the hairstyle for the Nina Ricci fall 2013 show.

The “fittingly feminine” hairstyle coincides with the 2013 hair trends featuring a clean and contemporary look. Day or night, it can easily go well with any outfit. As complicated as it may look, you can actually recreate this hairstyle in a few easy steps. Continue on reading after the break to get the complete how to of this gorgeous ballerina hairstyle.

How to: the Nina Ricci ballerina bun hairstyle

The first step to get this hairstyle is to shampoo and condition your hair. Guido recommends using new Redken Diamond Oil Shampoo & Conditioner for added strength and shine.
Next, apply some volume spray like Redken guts 10 to your damp hair to give your hair (especially the roots) some volume.
Blow dry your hair using a boar bristle brush. Make sure you lift your roots up for volume as you dry.
Once you’ve dried your hair, gather it up in a high ponytail and secure it with an elastic. Then take the ponytail and twist it as you wrap it around the ponytail creating a bun-like shape. Secure your bun in place with bobby pins.
