There’s no accident in her beauty, no ease, no signs of nonchalance, because for fall 2015, the Marc Jacobs woman goes ultra chic, uptown and pulled together, her entire look made to appear sleek, sculptured, tough. Inspired by grand ladies and chic women from the ’40s and ’70s (think Ida Sitwell), the forward topknot created by Guido Palau for Marc Jacobs’ fall 2015 presentation acts as the perfect cross between classic power and modern femininity.
A very simple knot at the top of the head with its ends sticking out morphs into an effective hairstyle-statement, one that you can choose to recreate today and sport all throughout spring and summer.

How to: the forward topknot at Marc Jacobs.
After following your usual routine of washing and conditioning the hair, apply a quarter-size amount of volumizing foam and work it all throughout your damp tresses. Backstage at Marc Jacobs, Guido Palau used the REDKEN Guts 10 Volume Spray Foam.
Next, blow dry the hair straight, starting at the base of the head and going upward, until getting that super-clean, super-sleek result.
Once done, proceed to gather the hair into a high ponytail right at the front of the forehead, and secure it with an elastic. To cover it up, take a small section of hair from the ponytail, wrap it around the elastic band and pin the underside with bobby pins to secure.
To achieve the runway look, twist the ponytail into a tight chignon and pin with open fasteners, leaving the ends of the top knot sticking out.
