The essence of the classic Dolce & Gabbana woman gets enriched with Spanish flavor for spring 2015, the result taking the guise of a romantic up-do that is very soft, pretty and feminine. Intended to look rich and luxurious, but effortless and slightly messy at the same time, the loose bun is built upon a perfect juxtaposition of airy texture and lavish floral arrangements, or jewel-encrusted crowns.
If you want to emulate the romantic Spanish femme look from Dolce & Gabbana spring 2015, all you have to do is follow the complete step-by-step tutorial provided by Redken’s Global Styling Director, Guido Palau, after the break.
How to: the romantic Spanish chignon at Dolce & Gabbana
It is best to start building this look on damp hair, so after following your regular hair washing and conditioning routine, make sure to thoroughly mist a primer with heat protection all over the damp locks and then gently comb through. Guido Palau used Redken’s Pillow Proof Blow Dry Express Primer.
To reduce friction and breakage, apply a nicked-size amount of prepping blow-dry lotion throughout the damp hair and proceed to blow-dry smooth using a round brush. Backstage at Dolce & Gabbana, Guido used the Redken Satinwear 02 Prepping Blow-Dry Lotion.
For more of a softer feel, use your fingers to create a clean center part. Once done, spray a dry finishing product all over the hair to gift it with that same airy texture seen on the runway. Guido used the Signature Look Wind Blown 05 Dry Finishing Spray by Redken backstage at Dolce & Gabbana spring 2015.
Next, pull all of the hair over the ears and gather it at the nape of the neck before securing it into a loose ponytail. Use a clear rubber band and make sure to not pull too tight.
Take the ponytail and twist it until you achieve a messy knot that you will then secure using small U-pins. Gently smooth and loosen a few strands of hair from the bun to achieve a look that is soft, effortless and not at all severe.
Finish off with another mist of dry finishing spray (much like the Signature Look Wind Blown 05 by Redken) before adorning your hair with rich flower arrangements, or jewel-encrusted crowns, borrowing inspiration from the runway.
