A ponytail is always the easiest way to wear your hair up. It allows you to move freely without worrying about getting your hair out of place. For the Nanette Lepore show, the classic ponytail was given a makeover to coincide with the coming 2013 hair trends.
The man behind this look was Bumble and Bumble lead hairstylist James Pecis, who created a style with a lot of texture and movement. He also incorporated the side part which is very much in for this season. This hairstyle features a rugged vintage look that can be worn by almost anyone, day or night. Check out the how to right after the break.
How to: textured high ponytail
First thing’s first, you have to prep your hair: you can do this with heat protectant spray to protect your hair while styling.
Take a triangle section of bangs. Make sure it goes to the side and creates a side part. Pin them off to the side while you work on your hair’s texture.
Take a curling iron and then curl the front section of your hair, about two inches of it. Do this from the middle section to the roots of your hair. This gives the ponytail it’s texture.
Gather your hair into a high ponytail and secure it with an elastic. Take a section of your hair from under the ponytail and wrap in around the elastic to conceal it. Secure this with a bobby pin.
Take your bangs and set them with the curling iron.
Once they’re set, backcomb your bangs and sweep them to the rest of the ponytail. Make sure that while you’re doing this you keep the side part and then secure it with some hairspray.
This is a hairstyle you can do in minutes. It’s quick and easy but it looks great on almost any ensemble.
