2008 It Girl

2008 has been another big year for fashion, but while it will be best remembered for the effects of the economic downturn on the fashion industry and the continuing blurring of the line between nudity and fashion right now it’s discovering year’s ‘it’ girl, the girl who defined or embodied fashion in 2008, who we’re looking for.

Earlier in the year I raised the issue of who 2008′s it girl might be, and six months later all the suggestions are still on the list. Of course, you might disagree with those (and the others who have made the list) so that’s why there’s the ‘other’ field.

So as we come to the end of 2008 we say vote, and help leave a lasting impression on the girl that defined 2008.

Late one Oxford night Daniel P Dykes set about creating a fashion publication that would go someway to being an arbiter on fashion as it appeals to the emerging power generations: those who don't remember a world without the Internet and for whom work plays second fiddle to pleasure. And so Fashionising.com was born as a publication for those who were focussed not just on fashion's trends, but on society's too, and how those trends could all go to heighten the art of living. Hence, Daniel sees a future where, for those young at heart, both fashion and style are grounded in traditional quality, but with a youthful, sensualised edge. Daniel is Fashionising.com's Editor in Chief and Chairman.
