2008 'It' Girl: Your Vote Now

Written by Daniel P Dykes

2008 It Girl

2008 has been another big year for fashion, but while it will be best remembered for the effects of the economic downturn on the fashion industry and the continuing blurring of the line between nudity and fashion right now it's discovering year's 'it' girl, the girl who defined or embodied fashion in 2008, who we're looking for.

Earlier in the year I raised the issue of who 2008's it girl might be, and six months later all the suggestions are still on the list. Of course, you might disagree with those (and the others who have made the list) so that's why there's the 'other' field.

So as we come to the end of 2008 we say vote, and help leave a lasting impression on the girl that defined 2008.

Traditionalist and futurist are two of the labels applied to Daniel, but he sees the two as being in perfect balance. With a keen eye on the future and his finger on the pulse he helps keep fashionisers everywhere ahead in the fashion stakes as Fashionising.com's lead fashion trend analyst. Believing that the late-2000s credit crisis will be ultimately good for fashion, Daniel sees a future for fashion where grounded in traditional values; where luxury fashion again comes to represent quality production as opposed to being solely label driven.

Currently based in Melbourne, Daniel is Fashionising.com's Editor in Chief and Chairman.
