Mario Testino has had his lens trained on supermodel legend Kate Moss since close to the very beginning of her career. As such it would come as no surprise that the famed photographer would have accumulated a huge library of photos of Kate over the years, ranging from the very start when he captured shots of her backstage at runways, all the way through to her career as the legendary print model she has become.
Now Testino is releasing a very limited edition photo book titled (slightly unimaginatively) Kate Moss by Mario Testino. Don’t let the simple name fool you: the book features a stunning range of photographs of Moss taken over the course of her career, many of which have not been published before.
The book also comes with an introduction from Kate in which she notes:
“Mario took me to a new level of glamour. I don’t think anybody had seen me as any kind of sexy model before he did. He was the one that transformed me. Before him I was just a grungy girl, but he saw me differently. He was the first to say ‘Oh, she’s quite sexy. I’ve seen her out! I know she’s not just that grungy girl.’ He’d seen me in a pair of heels, getting glamorous – and he was the first to start taking pictures of me in that way. He changed the way people thought about me as a model, for sure. Later other people started working with me in that way, but he was the first.”
The release is limited to a very small collection of 1,500 signed copies and will set you back $500, at the moment however you can pre-order a copy on Amazon.com for only $400.
