Happy Birthday Coco Chanel, have a coin

France sure knows how to celebrate an iconic birthday. For what would have been her 125th birthday the country has had the man himself - Karl Lagerfeld - design an €5 coin, which is of course a play on the iconic Chanel No.5 perfume. The coin will be a limited edition with only 99 of the gold edition being minted and setting back the avid collector €5,900.

The coin is exquisitely detailed featuring the iconic Chanel quilted pattern on the reverse, and a portrait of Coco and Karl's signature on the obverse. If your heart is set on obtaining one of these coins but the gold is a little out of your price in this financial crisis, you'll be happy to know that the silver version will set you back only €45, but you'll still have to be quick as there will only be 11,900 made.

The coins go on sale in December.
