Apparently this is not an acrimonious split, but we’ve heard from WWD that Jean Paul Gaultier and Hermes will be parting ways after the spring 2011 collection is complete. His replacement will be the current director of Women’s prêt-a-porter at the label, Chistophe Lemaire, who has a penchant for relaxed cuts and loose draping as you can see on his personal label’s website. We’re looking forward to seeing how he translates this to his new role at Hermes.
Meanwhile, as is usual Gaultier has only commented that he will take this time to concentrate more on his own label.
