Penthouse Magazine. Not really an expected topic for our blog, is it? But let us explain.

Several years ago a lot of men’s magazines changed tack – it seems that men really had read Playboy solely for the articles, as they turned away in droves to read the likes of GQ and Maxim. Clearly, the centrefolds weren’t doing it for them.

So finally, and perhaps better late than never, Penthouse Magazine has followed suit, the fruition of which you’ll see (or not) in the US March issue. How did they achieve the change? By turning to their competition and poaching Mark Healy from the men’s fashion bible that is GQ.

As more and more old school brands try to reinvent themselves as lifestyle options, we’re going to see a lot of them turning to the fashion magazines we ourselves have turned to for years on end.

Late one Oxford night Daniel P Dykes set about creating a fashion publication that would go someway to being an arbiter on fashion as it appeals to the emerging power generations: those who don't remember a world without the Internet and for whom work plays second fiddle to pleasure. And so Fashionising.com was born as a publication for those who were focussed not just on fashion's trends, but on society's too, and how those trends could all go to heighten the art of living. Hence, Daniel sees a future where, for those young at heart, both fashion and style are grounded in traditional quality, but with a youthful, sensualised edge. Daniel is Fashionising.com's Editor in Chief and Chairman.
