Nicolas Ghesquiere is leaving Balenciaga

The fashion world is full of shock departures and label-to-label moves, and one of the biggest questions is always why?

The answer is unknown in the case of Nicolas Ghesquière, who has just been announced as parting ways with Balenciaga after 15 years as creative director. WWD reports that the decision is a ‘joint’ one, with Ghesquière finishing up his role effective November 30th.

That leaves us with two more big questions: who will take up the reigns at Balenciaga, and where is Ghesquière headed next? The fashion industry will await both with interest.
