Before it was just announced in US Vogue, the fact had gone largely unknown: Miuccia Prada was behind the sparkling 1920s dresses in the upcoming The Great Gatsby film. Prada created 40 dresses – which were actually reworkings of pieces in the Prada and Miu Miu archive – in collaborated with the film’s head of wardrobe, Catherine Martin.

“I usually try not to literally reference periods in my work, because that’s not the way I think,” she told US Vogue. “But when I worked on the costumes, I realised how many pieces would become very Twenties with a little intervention and another point of view.”

Unfortunately it’s still a long wait to see the full set of costumes: the film has been delayed until July 2013. In the meantime you can watch the Great Gatsby trailer at that link.

Some people's wardrobes are about a small selection of pieces that all fit within one aesthetic - Tania Braukamper isn't such a person. With a wardrobe that spans three different rooms, her approach to fashion is a mixture of current-season key pieces mixed with vintage finds she's sourced on innumerous shopping trips around the world's more cultured capitals. Despite a disparate approach to shopping, Tania is adamant that the key to mixing vintage with new season is to stick to key looks and colours that work for oneself. And it's a theory that she works into her writing for Fashionising.com, where she serves as the publication's Editor.
