Alex and Ani are one of the few accessory brands we've seen that manage to successfully fuse luxury and eco-awareness. The brand's philosophy is about quality and unity, with a design aesthetic that focuses on natural beauty and recycled materials.
We have two limited edition "Mother Earth" expandable bangles to give away, courtesy of Alex and Ani. The "Mother Earth" collection was created to raise awareness about the need to protect our environment. Each piece in the collection features a charm that has a compass-like sphere encasing our globe, and is expandable to fit all sizes.

No-one knows magazines quite like mag nation, who tout themselves as the world's first and only magazine superstore. mag nation are the experts of the magazine world, stocking all kinds of publications from the mainstream, to the niche, to the downright obscure. And while our fashion pictures section is always packed with the latest editorials, photoshoots, and ad campaigns, we here at Fashionising.com still believe that there are things worth buying in print. This is the challenge of the print magazine world; not merely to survive, but to push the boundaries enough to stay relevant in an internet-dominated world, where the latest fashion trends are at your fingertips faster than you can say 'Anna Wintour', and the latest show coverage is accessible as it happens.

So which magazines are taking up the challenge, and producing content that is so comprehensive you want to feel it in pages; or editorials so outstanding they're worthy of sitting on your coffee table for the next six months? To help us help you distinguish the best of the best in print magazines, we've enlisted the aid of mag nation to give us a monthly run-down of the world's must-have mags.
The internet has brought about many changes to the fashion industry and to the way we shop. One thing we're seeing more of is the ability to create products on-demand; as well as a new hunger for individual products and one-offs that we know will be unique.
Shirts My Way is one site that brings customisable clothing to the masses. The amount of customisations offered by the brand is phenomenal; far from the choose-your-own-slogan tees we've seen so much of, Shirts My Way allows you a select fabrics, cuts, and colours - right down to buttonholes, yoke, collar, cuffs, and more.

We mentioned in the fashion forums that photographer Terry Richardson would be shooting the 2010 Pirelli Calendar, and today we have our first glimpse of some behind-the-scenes action.
A small taste of what's to come in the calendar, we have to admit that we're not entirely certain who the model is. Could it be model Catherine McNeil posing nude on horseback?

Gemma Ward for i-D September 2007, by Emma Summerton
Last month we speculated that Nylon Magazine was in trouble but it looks like they aren't the only ones suffering in the current financial crisis. We found out this week that from November, i-D magazine will become a bi-monthly publication. In a statement released today, Terry Jones says;

"We see this restructure as a reinforcement of position and strength towards a magazine and brand we are passionate about and have protected for so long."
"As one of the most respected and loved independent voices within the international fashion community, i-D is determined to maintain its unique status bridging the space between high fashion and street savvy."
Rosemount Australia Fashion Week (RAFW) hits Sydney next week - and as well as having the shows to look forward to, there's also a highly anticipated visit from the King and Queen of street style: Scott Schuman (aka The Sartorialist) and Garance Dore.

Legendary designer Pierre Cardin won't get out of bed for less than US$1.3 Billion, or that is to say that you have no hope of getting your hands on his empire for any less than that figure.
Cardin doesn't put on fashion shows anymore, but his substantial empire includes restaurants, hotels, food products with his name, and numerous other licensing deals. The 86-year-old designer tells the new issue of Fantastic Man, "The asking price is 1 billion euros [about $1.3 billion], and if prospective buyers can't pony up the funds, then that's their problem, not mine. It's not like I'm strapped for cash."

The fashion financial woes seem to be affecting more then just the fashion labels; browsing Missbehave this morning I came across the news from Nylon that subscribers will no longer be getting a physical copy of the magazine. Instead they will be emailed a digital version. If you're a Nylon subscriber you've probably received an email which includes this explanation;
No more lost issues! Ever had a magazine misplaced by the post office? Chewed up by the dog? Borrowed by your BFF? No problem - each digital edition in your NYLON subscription is always available to you, on our website or your computer!
No more paper! Looking for ways to reduce your carbon footprint? You have found one - enjoying NYLON Magazine on your screen instead of on paper! You'll have less to throw out too.
On Saturday 28th March, Perth's most entertaining hair and fashion show, Skattwalk 2009, took to the stage at The Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Boasting an array of loco hairstyles and resident fashion designs, Skattwalk fans were seduced and mesmerised by the local talent. Here are a few snippets from each segment:
This Saturday 28th March at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre, Lisa Grinceri and her team of talented hair and make up artists will showcase their individual talents at Perth's biggest hair and fashion show; Skattwalk.
For the 5th year running, over 100 models will showcase the talent and creativity we have come to expect from non other than the hair and make up artists at Skatt. I was fortunate enough to sit down with Lisa to hear what she had to say about the event and everything Skatt.

Vicky: "Lisa, what was/is the inspiration behind Skattwalk?"
Lisa: "Hairdressers and makeup artists are so talented and have a massive impact on the fashion industry; however this is often forgotten with the focus always being on the clothing and textiles. Skattwalk is an opportunity to celebrate and present this talent to the public. It is also a very rare opportunity for the public to have an opportunity to experience a live runway fashion event, as sadly most fashion shows are invite only. Skattwalk is open to everyone that shares a passion and interest in fashion."
