LMFF 2009 Business Seminar

Written by Tania Braukamper on 20.01.09

Last time I was lucky enough to attend L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival (LMFF)'s Business Seminar, I was blown away by amazing speakers like Jane Shepherdson, Jasper Conran and Jean-Jacques Picart. This year, the festival promises another fantastic program, headlined by Margareta van den Bosch; the Head of Design of H&M Worldwide.

We'll go into more detail on the individual events later, but in the meantime, do register to visit. Whether you're a designer, a buyer, or just someone interested in fashion - it's definitely worth checking out and registrations are free.

Fuji steps up to fill a Polaroid void

Written by Allan Barger on 07.01.09

Fuji instant mini polaroid Last Feburary there was a sad, sad day. It was the day that Polaroid announced that they would no longer be making film for their instant-film cameras, and inside we all died a little. No longer would we be able shake it, shake it like a Polaroid picture. We all started to hoard film because we knew soon we would no longer be able to get any more. Little did we know we were wrong because this little guy was just around the corner.

This little guy is Fuji's Instax Mini, and right now I'm really tempted to make him part of my camera kit if only for some fun backstage shoots, or out and about with friends.

Fashgasm 03.01 - Blog...asm?

Written by Allan Barger on 04.01.09

2008 was a massive year for Fashionising.com; doubly so when you consider we only celebrated our first birthday during it. Millions of fashionisers traversed our floor-boards (a fancy way of saying 'used the site') and consumed everything from our fashion blog through to our fashion pictures. And while it was our readers who named Daisy Lowe the year's 'it' girl it's only by looking at what you did, and didn't, read that we truly know what really got the world of fashion abuzz in 2008.

Chanel to Cut 200 Jobs

Written by Allan Barger on 01.01.09

As if we didn't already have enough signs that 2009 is going to be a lean year, The Guardian is reporting that they will be cutting 200 jobs, most of which will fall within their production workforce. Chanel is blaming a slow down in their luxury sales which is in line with predictions from JP Morgan citing that the luxury market will see sales fall by 4% in 2009.

What happened in 2008: the Global Credit Crisis

Written by Tania Braukamper on 28.12.08

The global credit crunch has so far lost billions if not trillions worldwide. We have already started to see the affect on the fashion industry and despite the fact that many luxury goods retails have been thriving, some well established brands are now feeling the squeeze. Australian label Herringbone are one example, with administrators appointed to the company due to a sharp downturn in retail spending. Herringbone has been reported to have dropped in sales up to 23% when compared to 2007.

Is Daisy Lowe this year's 'it' girl?

Written by Daniel P Dykes on 20.12.08

Can anyone stop Daisy Lowe from becoming 2008's 'it' girl?

As a part of our 2008 and fashion wrap-up we're asking for your vote on which socialite/model/sex pot best defines fashion over the course of the past year. And from the votes so far it seems that the nod may just go to Daisy Lowe.

Think she should get it? Or think someone else deserves the title? Then place your vote below.

Designers are quitting NYFW.
Victoria Beckhas thinks she just may look like a school teacher.
