Ambitious the name of the brand may seem when you realise that it’s not just a name but a mission – but then it sometimes takes high hopes and big dreams to make a difference in the world.
A Peace Treaty is a label founded upon fair trade, social enterprise, and a desire for peace. The brand’s spring / summer 2013 Vila Bombola collection reflects specifically upon 1960’s Libya, “when Italian influence decorated traditional Jewish and Arab expressions of art and architecture, such as minarets and painted tiles, with mosaics, arches, and frescos.” It’s both a tribute to a calm and beautiful time in Tripoli, and a dream of a return to that time.
Featuring semi-precious stones such as opaline, amazonite, lapis, onyx, and amethyst, each jewellery piece is handcrafted by desert artisan families using centuries-old sustainable techniques and traditions. Meanwhile spring’s beautiful collection of scarves were also inspired by the nature and architecture of Libya, decorated with detailed mosaics, latticework, feathers, fish, and palm fronds.
