Romance is not dead, at least not for the fashion industry and since there is much more to the old world that begs exploring, is no wonder Erin Fetherston’s fall / winter 2013 collection ended up looking like a modernized love affair with the past. A not so distant past for the matter, as Olivia Hussey playing Juliet in Franco Zeffirelli’s 1968 “Romeo and Juliet” was the beautiful image chosen to set the tone for the entire line-up: a youthful, yet breathtakingly glamorous one.
Keen on preserving some of the innocence that defined Hussey’s enchanting character, Erin Fetherston found a unique way of translating that same loveliness into an array of iridescent lace and lurex chiffon garments, ready to vow for the modern-day aesthetic. The contrasting rich jewel tones and eye-catching mix of metallics were the fabulous ode paid to an opulent past, alongside the array of baroque-inspired brocades and textured jacquards, re-envisioned with the same delicacy and consideration for the present.
